About
A carpet you are allowed to question
ChaharToranj is a workshop weaving silk carpets by hand and dealing with you directly, without an intermediary.
Story
It began with a simple problem
A person buying a handwoven carpet usually has no means of checking what they are buying. The fibre has to be accepted on someone's word, the origin has to be accepted on someone's word, and the knot density is almost never counted for them. The purchase stops being an examined decision and becomes trust in one person.
ChaharToranj grew out of that. We chose to start at the loom and take the intermediary out of the path, because every intermediary adds another layer between you and what is actually true about the carpet.
Today each carpet we offer is described with the figures a specialist would check: fibre, origin, knot density and dimensions. When something about a carpet does not help us sell it, we still say it — that is the part that shows the rest can be believed.
Mission
To weave silk carpets by hand and sell them directly, to an uncompromising standard
The aim is for every ChaharToranj carpet to be a holding that is genuine, transparent and lasting — something passed from one generation to the next, rather than an ornament replaced a few years later.
Provenance
Where the silk comes from, and how fine the weave is
Our carpets are woven with natural Qom silk. The knot density of each carpet is stated with its own specifications. That figure decides how fine and how legible the design can be, and it is why a single carpet takes months on the loom.

Values
The four rules we measure our work against
The name comes from the four-medallion structure of a carpet. These four rules sit together the same way: none of them takes the place of another.
Honesty
We describe the fibre, the origin and the condition of each carpet as they are, even when that does not help the sale.
Uncompromising quality
Fine natural silk, with no compromise in the material and no compromise in the weave.
Keeping the craft alive
We stay with traditional weaving and authentic designs, as they have been passed down from one generation to the next.
Standing behind the sale
We remain reachable after delivery — for care, cleaning and repair.
What sets us apart
If the silk is not genuine, we will not sell it to you. It is that simple.
That is the one rule we do not negotiate. Everything else — dimensions, design, delivery time and price range — is open to discussion.
Who this is for
ChaharToranj is probably for you if
- You want to see the technical specification before deciding, and ask about it.
- You see a carpet as something held across generations, not a decorative purchase.
- You would rather speak to the people who wove it than to a chain of resellers.
- You want to know where the silk came from and how fine the weave is — in figures, not adjectives.
And if you are still unsure, put those questions to us. Answering them is part of the work.
Conversation
Is there a question you have not had answered?
Ask about the fibre, the knot density, the dimensions or the price range. If we do not have an answer, we will tell you that.
